Easy Halloween Cheese Board for Kids

DIY

Halloween means plenty of candy, but I wanted to make something a little different for my boys: a Halloween cheese board filled with familiar snacks and a few spooky details. They LOVED it and dove right in!

This is one of my favorite ways to make everyday food feel festive. A little cheese, turkey sausage, cucumber, and a few pumpkin details can turn a simple snack into something fun for Halloween.

Make it for a family movie night, a Halloween get-together, or a little something to eat before heading out to trick-or-treat.

What you need to make your own.

To recreate the main elements of my board, gather:

  • Yellow cheddar cheese

  • Summer turkey sausage

  • Cucumber

  • Small rosemary sprigs for pumpkin stems

  • Kale to fill gaps

  • A serving board or large platter

  • Halloween decorations to arrange around the board

Choose amounts based on how many people you’re serving, and leave room for any other snacks your family enjoys.

I focused on ingredients I knew my boys would eat and colors that looked pretty together. The yellow cheddar and green vegetables gave the board a fun Halloween feel without needing to make everything into a spooky shape.

You can easily adjust yours with your family’s favorite cheeses, crackers, or vegetables.

Add Little Pumpkins and Spooky Details

I layered yellow cheddar cheese over slices of summer turkey sausage and added tiny rosemary sprigs for stems to make little pumpkin bites. Group a few together, and you have a mini pumpkin patch right on your board!

To bring in some green and a little Halloween fun, I added a whole cucumber with small slits to hold plastic spider rings. My boys loved the spooky touches! Before serving, move the plastic spiders beside the platter, remove the rosemary stems, and cut the cucumber into pieces appropriate for your kiddos.

Fill the empty spaces

My little styling trick was kale! I tucked it into the open spaces to make the board look fuller and add more green.

You can also use those spots for extra snacks. There’s no need to make everything perfectly symmetrical; small clusters make it easy to put together.

I added a little decorative rat near the cheese because, of course, it belonged there! I used little mini cauldrons and added baby carrots inside. I love the orange pop of color with the black!

Make It Your Own

You don’t need a huge board or a long shopping list. Start with a few things your kids like, add your little cheese pumpkins, and work with what you have.

For me, the best part was seeing my boys get excited about a snack I’d made for them. Those little seasonal touches are what make celebrating at home so much fun.

Would your kiddos enjoy a Halloween snack board like this? Tell me what you’d add in the comments!

Happy Halloween!
